Election Of Officers

Mr N. A. Cullen, who is the director of the Department of Agriculture’s Invermay agricultural research centre at Taieri in Otago, was elected president of the New Zealand Grassland Association at the association's annual meeting at Lincoln. He succeeds Dr R. W. Brougham, who is the head of the pasture ecology section of the Grasslands Division of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research at Palmerston North. Professor B. R. Watkin, professor of agronomy at Massey University of Manawatu and at one time officer-in-charge of the Lincoln substation of the Grasslands Division of the D.5.1.R., was elected vice-president. As well as the president, vice-president, and the immediate past president, the executive committee for the new year w’ill include Dr J. G. White, senior lecturer in plant science at Lincoln College; Mr C. During, of the Ruakura agricultural research centre; Miss H. Inglis, of Woodville; Mr G. Banfield, fields superintendent of the Department of Agriculture at Hamilton; the association’s technical editor, Mr W. G. Thurston, of Palmerston North; and its secretary, Mrs H. Foster. Next year’s conference of the association will be held at Taupo. It was favoured that the 1972 meeting should be at Te Anau.
