Hereford St Sale
The United Building Society’s single - storey property at 79 Hereford Street has been bought by the Guardian Royal Exchange Assurance Group for about $40,000.
The property consists of 8 1-10 perches with a frontage of 38.16 links and is on the west side of the Guardian Assurance building. It has been owned by the United Building Society since 1937. The property has been acquired for inclusion in the redevelopment plans of the group, which owns 81 and 83 Hereford Street, which were occupied until recently by the Guardian Assurance Company, Ltd, and British Traders’ Insurance Company, Ltd.
Mr R. R. Livingstone, of Livingstone and Jones, Lang, Wootton, negotiated the sale. Pending development of the site, the Guardian Royal Exchange Assurance Group is in temporary premises at 181 Cashel Street.
