VISITS TO JAPAN

Agreement On Visas

(N.Z. Press Association)

WELLINGTON, May 18.

Visas will not be required soon for New Zealanders visiting Japan for up to 30 days. The Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) announced today that the Government had made a reciprocal visa arrangement with the Japanese Government which would take effect from June 15.

The exemption would not apply to visitors who intend to work, including entertainers and professional sportsmen.

Fees would be no longer levied for visas, where these were still required, and business representatives and business visitors whose stay exceeded the 30-day limit would be granted multiple-entry visas valid for two years.
