WELLINGTON.
The “inconsistent” rulings made by the Auckland referee, Mr D. Rump, during the Gisborne City-Hungaria Rothmans National Soccer League match on Saturday have resulted in a letter of complaint being sent to the Wellington Football Association.
In the second half of the i match, Mr Rump sent two ' Hungaria players, A. Polyansky and F. Furjes, from the < field for incidents which Gis-1 borne City believed would not i have occurred had the referee i exercised a tight control over the match throughout. 1 Polyansky was sent off mid-, way through the second spell s after he was involved in what < looked to be one of the more s minor scuffles of the turbulent match with M. Bland. 1 Furjes was sent off soon 1 afterward for striking L. Todd ( in retaliation after the Gisborne forward had struck the l first blow. i “We have a letter in the!; post to the W.F.A. who will ; be dealing with the disciplin-li
ing of the .players,” the Gisborne City secretary, Mr R. R. Stewart, said. The Gisborne Club was in full sympathy with the two players sent off as a direct result of the “inconsistent refereeing.” “Most of the players from both teams webe unhappy with the refereeing and showed their disapproval, as did the crowd,” Mr Stewart said. “We would hate to see Hungaria go under, and have two players put out because of it.” The Hungaria seer tary, Mr lE. Gaal, said that his club was) considering taking similar! ; action but it would await the manager’s report of the l match.
