Umpiring problem
In an endeavour to ensure there are umpires for all hockey matches, the Canterbury Association has agreed to fine the clubs of player-umpires who fail to appear for their scheduled matches. A $2 fine will be imposed on the offending player’s club if he does not arrive at the match and cannot offer a satisfactory explanation to the association as to why he was absent.
