Although not asked for a serious effort In his final trial Styleman showed that he. has improved since racing at Awapunl last week-end and is ready to test the higher weighted horses In the Hawke's Bay Cup. Working on the course proper 40 feet from the rails. Styleman galloped over a mile and a quarter averaging 15sec to the furlong for the first seven furlongs, but. then hit out well over the last three furlongs In 39aec. He carried a solid weight, yet he was revelling in his work
Sweet Bourbon was paired with Kirkman in a fast run over half a mile. They finished together tn 50 2-ssec which was by far the fasten time for the distance, yet both horses were travelling strongly. Sweet Bourbon hai been most Impressive tbit week and ahould be one of the best prospects from Awapuni. Kirkman showed Improvement as he carried a heavier weight and evidently appreciates the sting out of the ground.
