Skelton Leaves
“The Press’* Special Service ~ AUCKLAND. The Takanini jockey, R. J. Skelton, who was to have left for Los Angeles on Wednesday night, left last night. Skelton has been asked to ride the former New Zealand mare. Fairfleet, in a trial when he arrives, and give his opinion on her chance against Gallant Bloom in the >45,000 Long Beach Handicap on Saturday (American time).
Gallant Bloom has won bis last 11 starts and Fairfleet’s connections think he might be too tough th tackle at this stage. It will not be known until today whether Gallant Bloom is in the field.
