PILCHARDS CAUGHT

Processing As

Fishmeal

(N.Z Press Association) NELSON, April 15.

Fifteen tons of pilchards caught by the fisheries technology ship W. J. Scott was unloaded in Nelsoi today. This was half the 30-ton catch taken in one haul by the Marine Department ship in Tasman Bay yesterday. The rest were released. A departmental spokesman said the catch was the largest taken by the W. J. Scott. Most of the pilchards brought to the port would be sold to Wonderfoods, Ltd, for processing into fishmeal.
