PROGRAMMES As you state, Saturday night TV programmes are often futile and paltry. That goes, too, for many Friday night programmes. Surely, a good documentary could be shown, even occasionally. On Saturday afternoon (April 11), a documentary, “Margin for Life, McQuarie Island,” was shown, starting at 2.5 p.m. But how many would view it then, when thousands are out-of-doors? TV programming is bad. No doubt about that! This apart, it appears that the N.Z.B.C. does hot buy as well as it might. Who on earth does the buying for N.Z.8.C.? What are his (or her) qualifications for this important post? —PUZZLED.
