Cockpit Shield Proposed

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) WASHINGTON, March 20. American airlines will be asked soon to put a bulletproof shield round their planes’ cockpits to try to thwart gun-carrying hijackers. The Federal Aviation Administrator, Mr John Shaffer, said yesterday that his agency would soon propose the rule as part of a campaign to cut the number of hijackings.
