DECISION ‘ILLEGAL’
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright)
LONDON, Feb. 27.
The British Government regards Rhodesia’s decision to proclaim herself a republic next Monday to be just as illegal as its unilateral decision of independence in 1965. The Government’s reaction to the Rhodesian announcement was given in a brief Foreign and Commonwealth Office statement which said: “This, like everything else the regime has done, is an illegal act” Official spokesmen said that Britain would continue to maintain the mandatory sanctions and the international isolation of the Rhodesian regime with the object of bringing about a solution in Rhodesia acceptable to all its people.
