Lancaster Park Crowds
Sir,—lt was unfortunate that the enjoyment of the cricket at Lancaster Park on Saturday was marred for most of the large crowd by the behaviour of a few exhibitionists whose knowledge of the game was matched by I the ignorance of their behaviour. It has become J customary of recent years, ' unfortunately, for louts .to gather on No. 5 > stand and proceed to drink. > throw bottles and beer cans ■ about, and generally carry on I in an offensive manner in i the mistaken impression that . their remarks are witty and . their behaviour clever. If ’ the CC.A. wants the patroni age of such types then, in . future, it can do without mine.—Yours, etc.. , DISGUSTED. February 22, 1970. [Mr K. N. McGillivray, 1 secretary of the Lancaster ! Park Board, replies: “This is a matter which has recently • become evident, and the. board is taking further steps 1 in aq .endeavour to ensure 1 that the enjoyment of patl rons is not spoilt by the conduct of some patrons on No. ■ 5 stand,”]
