BARRIERS TO TRADE
Ambassador’s View Wl. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Feb. 25. The United States Ambassador (Mr K. Franzheim) said today that he favoured the continued gradual reduction of barriers to trade between New Zealand and the United States. Mr Franzheim was speaking at the inaugural meeting of American Chamber of Commerce in Wellington. He said he knew that New Zealand was concerned about the present quotas for its products, and the possibility that new quotas might be in-; troduced. President Nixon favoured! continuing liberalisation of; trade between all countries “As far as New Zealand goes he has assured the Prime Minister that he understands the importance New Zealand attaches to maintaining ac cess to the American market,” Mr Franzheim said.
