3 Hurt In Collision
Three persons were admit- t ted to the Kaikoura Hospital with injuries after a collision on State Highway No. 1 at Ohau Point 17 miles north of Kaikoura, at 12.15 p.m. yes- i terday. ( Those injured are Mrs E. ? M Hartley, aged 78. of 23 1 Barnborough Street, Invercargill, who suffered a fractured leg and lacerations to the forehead: Mrs I. Smith, aged 71, of 11 Taramea Street. Christchurch, who suffered abrasions of the legs: and George Edward McLellan, aged 82, of East Road, Invercargill, who was admitted for observation: 1 Mr McLellan was driving < north when there was a collision between his car and another vehicle towing a cara- < van travelling south. The. i other injured persons were < passengers in his car. The driver of the other vehicle, Mr R. C. Tusk, a retired school teacher, of Napier, and his three passengers were not injured. Both ; vehicles were extensively damaged. Cable Theft Five hundred yards of elec- ' trical cable worth $l5O, be longing to Able Electric Contractors, Ltd, was stolen from • a Tuam Street building re- ; centiy. Cigarettes and clothing ■ were stolen in a burglary on Tuesday night of the Wigram ! Discount Store, 68A Springs ];Road. Biscuits worth $2 were F taken in a burglary on the same night of Wholesale . Groceries, Ltd. 5(57 Cashel e Street. s. Wood carvings and wooden 1 ornaments were stolen early : this month when a workshop ”iin Ravcroft Street was burgled. They are worth $144.
