More Insurance Wanted
Anaesthetists from the North Canterbury Hospital Board might be needed on the West Coast at short notice, but were not prepared to undertake the work unless adequate travel insurance was provided, the board was told yesterday. The medical superinten-dent-in-chief (Dr-L. M. Berry) said the amount of insurance cover permitted by the Department of Health was $6850 —“which everybody will agree is almost a ludicrously small amount.” Dr Berry said that journeys to the West Coast had had to be made through snow and ice, and there had been one minor accident already.
