(N.Z Press Association > WELLINGTON. In a Commonwealth Games boxing trial bout in Wellington last night J. Rackley (Nelson) a light-weight, won a split decision over P. Ryan (Taranaki). The Canterbury featherweight, R. Carstairs, the aggressor all the way. won comfortably on points over 10 rounds against T. Smith (Australia) in a professional preliminary bout. The hitherto-unbeaten Wellington professional featherweight, R. Redden, down three times, was stopped in the first round by a Fijian, Mansoor Ali. The fight was over in little more than 90 seconds.
