11,000-Volt Burns

(From Our Own Reporter) TIMARU, Feb. 10. A young man was admitted to the Timaru Hospital today suffering from burns to the hands and back after falling about 12ft, striking an 11,000volt line and landing on his head. He is Michael Heath, an electrical serviceman employed in the Levels area by the South Canterbury Electric Power Board. The board’s chief engineer (Mr F. C. Stevenson) said that Mr Heath was on a transformer structure erecting a cable terminating box on the transformer sub-sta-tion at Gleniti Road, opposite Willow Place, about 4 p.m. He fell to the ground and in the fall touched the 11,000volt line, Mr Heath was taken to hospital by a Timaru St John Ambulance. His condition this evening was described as satisfactory.
