Government Probes Endurance Trading
(N.Z. Press Association) SYDNEY, February 5. The New South Wales Attorney-General (Mr K. M. McCaw) has ordered an investigation into dealings in Endurance Mining Corporation, N.L., and Attunga Mining Corporation Proprietary, Ltd. The investigation, under a section of the Companies Act, will be conducted by a barrister, Mr J. S. Lockhart, and a State Companies Office inspector, Mr M. F. Mealey. Mr McCaw said yesterday that they would investigate and report on the circumstances under which shares were traded in Endurance between June 1, 1968, and September 30, 1969, and in At-
tunga between January 1, 1968, and September 30, 1969. The investigators would be able to require any person whom they had reasonable cause to believe could give information, to appear for examination, Mr McCaw said. Endurance acquired Attunga last February, and held options over the Attunga scheelite prospects near Tamworth. The general manager of the Sydney Stock Exchange (Mr D. J. Butcher) said that there would be no suspension of current trading in Endurance shares. The chairman of Endurance (Mr J. L. Aston) said that the present board was gratified to learn of the investigation.
