F and T Ind. Pays 6½ p.c.
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, Feb. 5. F and T Industries, Australia, Ltd, will pay an increased interim dividend of 61 per cent on the strength of a spectacular 74 per cent profit increase. Net profit in the six months to December 31 was $1,454,697, compared with only $833,342 in the six months to December 31, 1968, when the figures for the New Zealand subsidiary are deducted. Sales for the first six months of the financial year totalled s3lm, compared with s3sm during the first half of 1969, the directors said today. The reduction was due to the withdrawal of the company from wool processing operations: sales of other products were ahead of last year. A new tufted carpet mill is being built in Victoria at a cost of s2m.
