Spy Sentenced To 12 Years
(N.Z. Press Assn. — Copyright; HAIFA, February 5. A Haifa court has found an Israeli Arab publisher guilty of spying for Syria, and has sentenced him to 12 years imprisonment. The Bench of three judges said Gazi Kemal Sa’adi, aged 37, enlisted in the service of Syrian intelligence through his brother while on a mission to Cyprus on behalf of Israeli intelligence. Sa’adi passed on high-level secret information to a Syrian agent named “George” in Cyprus, and later to other Syrian agents in Istanbul and Paris.
Sa’adi was arrested in possession of two bottles of invisible ink and 23 Arabiclanguage books issued by the Popular Liberation Front guerrilla organisation. The books contained propaganda against Israel.
