Nigeria Aid Endorsed

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, February 4. The Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) today gave his support to the C.0.R.5.0. and U.N.I.C.E.F. appeal for funds to help Nigeria. The appeal, which opened today, will continue until the end of March.

Mr Holyoake said that the problems facing Nigeria were immense, and without generous aid from external sources hardship and deprivation would certainly continue. U.N.I.C.E.F. has launched a world-wide appeal for s2m from the public to meet urgent needs in Nigeria. When the war ended New Zealand officially contributed $50,000 for relief and rehabilitation. There was also an emergency grant of $5OOO from C.0.R.5.0. in New Zealand.
