To Traffic Officers

Sir,—Regarding the complaint of Messrs Cole and Pugh, there is apparently no departmental regulations whereby an informer must be informed that proceedings; will not be instituted for the prosecution of the person named by the informer to have committed, ir his opinion, a crime. Thank God. If there were, the named should be informed who named him. Readers, many of whom have probably encountered the stock phrase “I’ll report you to the Transport Department,” may be wondering if they have met Messrs (Mesdames?) Cole and Pugh. The department could well say to informers eager for results, “Come again when you’ve less time to spare.”—Yours, etc., A. B. CEDARIAN. February 3, 1970.
