Sun Priestess Gore Fancy
"The Press" Spacial Service INVERCARGILL. Ths Southland district ratine dubs* jackpot .oat. .pan. Ins at si*.»34o, will he ana or tho attractions at ths Gore Racing Club’s meeting today. With today's Investments the pool should reach 135,000. The Jackpot races will be one. three, four, five, eight and nine. Sun Priestess, which returned to winning form at the recent Vincent mooting, may be the hardest to beat in the first leg of the T.A.B. double, the President's Handicap, which has drawn a field of moderate strength. The withdrawal of the throe-year-old and early favourite,' Trelay, has robbed the race of a good deal of interest. My Era. second to Bod Siren at Vincent, and a recent place-getter, Bellaware, may fare best of the others. Sliderule and Caeca may bo capable of causing an upset. The second leg, the Croydon Handicap, will see the Kurow winner, Dave’s Gift, come In for strong support. His solidness has always been a factor in his favour and he may be more than a match tor the recentlypromoted hacks, Ethmay and Crown Agent. There was rain during the week but it has not affected the track, which will be firm. Selections:— 11.30 a.m.—Summer Hlafiwalght: Beau Bevan, The Medico.
