Cease-fire At Tet

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) SAIGON, January 29. President Nguyen Thieu will announce a 24-hour ceasefire for the Tet lunar new year, according to informed South Vietnamese Government sources, United Press International reported. President Thieu said in an official statement yesterday that he “still needs time to observe the situation” before making any announcement, but Government sources predicted that he would announce a truce since both sides have observed holiday cease-fires for years. Tet is on February 6 and the North Vietnamese and Viet Cong announced they would observe a four-day truce beginning at 7 a.m.
