NEW RECORD FOR EXPORTS
(New Zealand Frees Association) WELLINGTON, December 8. Exports by manufacturers in October topped the slom mark for the second month in succession and set a new record for any month at $10.27m.

New export records far several groups of manufactures were set in the month, including transport equipment ($270,000), machinery ($623,000), iron and steel ($102,000), chemicals
($640,000), and clothing ($192,000).
The October exports carried the total for the first four months of the trading year to s39m, which was 25 per cent higher than in the same four months of last year.
Exports of pulp, paper and wood products in the four months rose from $12.32m to $14.44m, an increase of 17 per cent.
In the same period exports of “other manufactures” rose from sl7m to $22.85m, an increase of 32 per cent.
