Woman Seeks Election ~=j (N.Z. Press Association) ROTOBJJA, Nov. 11. i Mrs H. L m,M Kawerau. has become the first woman to stand for election ?to the Arawa Maori Trust Board. Mrs Fox has accepted nomination for election as one of two Tuhourangi section representatives. Not since the board was established in 1924 has a woman sought election to it. Four ■ nominations have been received for the two Tuhourangi seats. The Board’s secretary (Mr A. T. Bennett), said today it was too early to say whatithe reaction would be to a woman contesting a seat. “It has never been an accepted thing in the past,” he said. He did not know of any other Maori trust boards which had women members.
