Permits for buildings worth 81,122,849 were issued by the Christchurch City Council last month—an increase of $39,283 on the figure in October last year. In the seven months since March 31, the council has issued 2097 permits for buildings worth 87,451,174, compared with 2101 permits to a value of 88,287,095 in the same period last year. During October, 38 permits were issued for new houses valued at 8350,483, eight permits were issued for new flats valued at $97,800 and nine permits were issued for other buildings valued at $218,393.
