HANMER CAMP
Proposal For Building Plans and specifications to enable tenders to be called for a building to replace the existing log cabin at the Hanmer Springs Automobile Association camp will be prepared for the association. A recommendation of the association’s camp committee that a consulting architect be authorised to proceed with the plans and specifications was adopted at a meeting of the association’s council last evening. The proposal is for a rectangular shaped single-storey building of treated pinus timber, rough sawn and stained, for the exterior walls. It will have a wooden floor with a concrete terrace and corrugated aluminium roofing. Varnished timber will be used for the interior walls.
The building, which may be finished in ski-hut style, will have an outside measurement of 60ft by 28 ft with a 7ft wide terrace. The estimated cost is $20,000.
The council also adopted the committee’s recommendation that use of the proposed building be restricted to camp residents.
