Fine Trials At Wingatui
“The Press” Special Service DUNEDIN. David Porter, Martian Command, Mon Amour and Jodema were four candidathes for the Gore meeting which impressed in their final gallops at Winga tui yesterday when the work was held in fine weather on fast tracks.
In one of the few gallops on the sand, David Porter (P. Silver), finished half a length clear of his stablemate. Kindle, which was at a disadvantage in the weights with G. Mee in the saddle. They ran five furlongs in Imin 3 4-ssec, the last three in 39sec.
Princess Mellay .(A. Robinson) and Dollar Era (T. Wright) completed a round of pace work on the plough by coming home the last three in 39sec.
Princess Mellay has done well since winning the Dunedin Guineas and is ready to make her debut in open company in the Members* Handicap, the first leg of the T.A.B. double. Superspan (P. Silver) rounded off his preparation for the Members’ Handicap by dashing over half a mile with Lady Clairol (J. Pankhurst).
Mon Amour (L. Didham), Gay Gabador (E. Didham) and Anvil (M. Denton) came through a thorough test over seven furlongs on the course proper with the trestles out 20ft in Imin 30sec.
The pace was on all the way and they continued the strong gallop over the last three in 39 l-ssec.
Martian Command, ridden by the trainer, H. Anderton, was two lengths clear of Trelay (A. Robinson) in 51 4-ssec, the first furlong in 13 l-ssec.
