Pacific Flights Delayed

(N-ZP-A.-Heuter—Copyright) WASHINGTON, Oct 23. American Airlines received permission from the Civil Aeronautics Board to delay the start of its Pacific service for up to six months. Under board regulations, American Airlines was to have begun flights yesterday between the United States mainland, Hawaii, American Samoa, Australia and New Zealand. But the airline told the board it was still negotiating with the Australian Government for landing rights and frequency of flights. It is also talking with pilots over contract adjustments to cover the new service.

American Airlines, a major United States domestic airline, was awarded the routes last July. “We want to be ready to offer first-class service when we begin the flights,” an airline spokesman said.
