NEW BRIGHTON CHILDREN’S PLAYGROUND.—A model of the playground proposed by the New Brighton Pier and Foreshore Society. The City Council’s parks and recreation committee reported to the council at its last meeting that sketch plans had been approved for developing an area south of the northern car park at New Brighton. The scheme would cost about $25,000. The main feature is a filtered paddling pool incorporating a lighthouse and boat Ways of financing the project have still to be considered, but the committee expected sufficient money to be available from the reserve contributions in the sale of land account The Pier and Foreshore Society was prepared to meet architect’s fees up to $l500.
