Races On Monday
The track for the North i Canterbury Racing Club's ! meeting at Rangiora on 'Labour Day is tn excellent (order, and looks the best bit of green grass tn the county. Its pleasant setting and rural atmosphere make this one of the most attractive country courses in Canterbury.
Lord Wigg, chairman of the British Horse Racing Betting Levy Board, lunched with the committee of the club at Rangiora last week, and spoke highly of the Rangiora course.
“Lord Wigg was quite impressed with our course and commented that the amenities were excellent con sidering we have only five to seven days racing a year," said the club's president (Mr C. A Macdonald).
The Labour Day programme has been increased to nine races, by the addition of a 2-year-old race. This has been sponsored by two promi-
nent local stud horse breeders—Mr R. E. Adair (Inglewood Stud), and Mr D. B. C. Allin (Morwenstow Stud). Entries for the new race have been quite creditable. with 14 starters.
The club will also provide a creche to care for children while dad or mum places a bet
A jackpot will be run tn conjunction with the day's events, and will open at $2BOO Mr Macdonald hopes the total will approach $5OOO by the end of the day
