e t FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT ’ - Situation. —A large slow-moving antit cyclone lies to the west of the North Island; ; a strong westerly airstream flows over the f south Tasman Sea on to the South Island. Forecast: I Canterbury.—North-westerlies fresh at times inland, but moderate north-easterlies about the coast; some rain in the far west, otherwise fine although large amounts of high cloud at times; rather mild inland. Marlborough.—Fresh north-westerlies about Cook Strait, otherwise moderate winds; fine with moderate afternoon temperatures. Nelson.—Moderate variable winds; fine, although some scattered showers are likely about the western high country. Buller and Westland.—Moderate variable ■ winds; cloudy and cool with scattered light ! rain, especially in the south. Outlook: mainly fine east of the ranges. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
