Education Council Members Named
6V.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 13. The Minister of Education (Mr Kinsella) today announced the membership of the Advisory Council on Educational Planning. The chairman is Mr D. F. Horlor, chairman of the council of governors of Nelson College, and chairman of the Secondary Schools Boards’ Association (southern region). He was a member of the commission on education which produced the Currie report. Ex officio members are Dr K. J. Sheen, Director-General! of Education, Mr A. J. Danks,! chairman of the University Grants Committee, Mr P. L. Laing, chairman of the Vocational Training Council and a former Commissioner of Works, and Mr W. A. E. Green, Assistant Secretary to the Treasury. The other members are Mr E. C. Edgar, deputy chairman of the Auckland Technical Institute and of the Voea-j tional Training Council. Miss! J. M. pal of Christchurch Teachers’ College, Mr J. J. McGrath, immediate past president of the University Students’ Association and a member of the Victoria University of Wellington Council, Mr R. A. McKenzie, director of McKenzies (N.Z.), Ltd, and a member of the Council for Educational Research, and Dr A. D. Robinson, senior lecturer in politicaj science at Victoria University and a member of the : education, training and research committee of the National Development Confer- ! ence. ! The council’s terms of reference are to advise the National Development Council and the Minister of Education on the implementation of recommendations made by the National Development Conferference, and on priorities in educational development; and to consider and advise on matters of educational importance referred to it by the Minister, the Director-Gen-eral of Education or the National Development Council.
