1 p.c. Rise In Retail Prices
j (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 10. The average level of retail prices rose 1 per cent between the second and third quarters of 1969, according to figures issued tonight by the Department of Statistics. Major contributions to the 12-POint increase to 1201 in ,Mhe alt-groups index came (romfoed, housing and clothfaC.The base for the index In 1966 was 1000. Contributing to a 44-point riae for meats and fish were a 18-point rise . in beef meat prices and 1.4 points for ■ sheep meat. Rent of private dwellings rose 1.1 points, and return on capital home ownership 1.6 points. Retail prices for seasonal , fruit and vegetables fell by 3 points.
