INHALANTS FOR ASTHMA

Prescriptions For 3 Months (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct 10. Asthma sufferers could obtain spare prescriptions for aerosol inhalants which would remain valid for three months, the Minister of Health (Mr McKay), told Parliament today. The Minister made this clear in answer to a question from Mr P. Blanchfield (Lab., Westland), who wants regulations making the inhalants available by-prescription-only relaxed. In reply to a suggestion from Mr Blanchfield that asthma sufferers be issued with a certificate valid for 12 months to enable them to obtain an inhalant at any time, Mr McKay said these matters were at present being discussed by the clinical division of the Health Department. A number of submissions opposing the regulations had been received from some individual doeton and the matter had been referred beck to the poisons committee, the Minister said.
