D.M. Grant Art Exhibition

D. M. Grant is exhibiting 29 paintings in a one-man show in Hay’s - Wright Stephenson, Northlands. He has failed to recognise that picturesque views from around the world and within New Zealand do not necessarily make good paintings. In all but one painting, composition is weak and tonal relationships are uncontrolled.

Colour throughout the exhibition is muddy and views of Venice, Naples, Barcelona and Italy are observed in the same light and texture as Mount Cook, Lake Alexandrina, Arrowtown and Hanmer Springs. The exhibition will remain open until September 26. —G.T.M.
