Obituary

MR A. D. BILLS Mr Archibald Douglas Bills, who died in Christchurch yesterday, was a life member and former vice-president of the New Zealand Printing and Related Trades Union. He was secretary of the Canterbury and Westland branch of the union, and had held this post for 20 years. The president (Mr D. E. Le Fevre) said last evening that Mr Bills had done-much to lift the standing of the print--1 ing union in the community ’ and had been respected by employers throughout New ' Zealand. Mr Bills, who was also a justice of the peace and a member of a New Zealand apprenticeship committee, worked for the “Christchurch ■ Star" for 36 years, and was Father of the Star Chapel for 25 years until his retirement in 1960. Mr Bills was a widower.
