PALMERSTON NORTH.
The 1968 New Zealand Derby winner, Pep, will be an interesting fresh runner in the Hatuma Lime Handicap, second leg of the Levin Racing Club’s T.A.B. concession double today.
Pep’s form fell away when the tracks firmed last summer and he was put aside after racing at Wanganui in February.
Hindi, a winner on the first day of the Wellington winter meeting, and Bijali and Arcfern, which were both placed at Trentham. should be the best of the horses which have had recent racing. Escameno should be equal to the task of winning the first leg, the Levin Handicap, under top-weight of 8.10. He was a strongly-finishing fourth in the Taumarunui Gold Cup last Saturday and before that was placed at Trentham. Selections:—
