ARCHERY RECORD
(N.Z. Pres» Association) AUCKLAND. An international gold star award and a New Zealand archery record by K. Howard (Auckland), -a member of the national team of three to contest the world championships at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, next month, brought praise from the sole selector (Mr J. Kerr) yesterday. Howard, aged 34, who has been in the sport only three years, won his gold star at the Bay of Plenty-East Coast meeting at the week-end and at the same time shot a 290 at 70 metres, beating the previous New Zealand best at this distance by 12 points Mr Kerr said that Howard, the team captain, B. Arnott (Dunedin), and J. Bruning (Westport) had all been regularly recording practice ehots of up to 1100 and better. Bruning, he said, had one ehoot of 1133. i
