Export Association May Be Formed
An association of experts on exports might be formed in the “not too distant future,” said Mr W. G. Kerslake, trade promotion officer of the New Zealand Manufacturers’ Federation, yesterday.
He was replying to a question at the export seminar held , in Christchurch by the Department of Industries and Commerce. A delegate had asked if it was possible for an exporters’ association to be formed to advise potential exporters to the Pacific area—especially those planning to export to countries without any New Zealand trade representation. Mr Kerslake said that there was no such formalised organisation at -present. The nearest thing was his federation, which brought exporters together fairly regularly to exchange points of view and experience. But it was probable that in the not too distant future
could develop. There were such organisations in other countries, some of which had a “piggy-back” system which allowed small companies to be helped into the export field by bigger and more experienced companies. Mr Kerslake said that New Zealand companies were always ready and able to share their experience with new exporters and to assist them.
