Be is trained by I a former New Zealander. T, R. Howe, and will be ridden again by the New Zealand jockey, M. I Laurence.
Crisp gained a 30 lengths victory over two miles last Saturday when making his hurdle debut. He schooled brilliantly at Moonee Valley during the week.
The Fox. third in the Grand National Steeple, is also fancied. He will meet Summer Flight on 151 b better terms today.
Another likely Improver is Carnaby, which ran second to Crisp last Saturday and should have been closer. His jockey, B. L. Hillis, was reprimanded . by the stewards for “lethargic" riding. Carnaby meets Crisp : 71b better this week.
Town Guard, another of the J. Davis-Hillis team from New Zealand, is favoured in the Mia Mia Hurdle <2m. If.). Town Guard was in a winning (position at the final hurdle at his last start but tangled with a fallen horse and was beaten . into third. He has worked well during the week and is overdue I for a win.
