Welshmen Honoured

Lord Snowdon, “stage-man-ager” for the investiture of bis nephew, Prince Charles, as Prince of Wales, heads a list of 16 Welshmen honoured by Queen Elizabeth today. The earl, who is Constable of Caernarvon Castle, where the investiture took place last week, is created a Knight Grand Cross of the Roval Victorian Order. Seven men created knights in the investiture honours list are: Geraint Llewellyn Evans, the singer, for services to music; David Joseph Davies, chairman of the Welsh Tourist Board; Robert Charles Evans, principal of the University College of North Wales, for services to mountaineering; the Rev. Albert Evans-Jones, for services to Welsh literature; Archibald James Lush, for social services to Wales; Goronwy Hopkin Daniel, Permanent Un-der-Secretary, Welsh office; and Lieutenant-Colonel William Jones Williams. Among other recipients of awards is Mr Ivor Edwards Jones, who has been made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire. He is president of the Welsh Rugby Union and has just returned with the Welsh team from a tour of New Zealand, Australia and Fiji.
