U.S. Cigarette Advertising
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) WASHINGTON, July 9. American television’s “watch-dog” board has recommended the elimination of all cigarette advertising on television by 1973. The Television Code Review Board of the National Association of Broadcasters, which sets the standards for both programmes and advertisements, represents all three major broadcasting networks and about 400 of the 623 commercial stations in the United States.
Its members must approve the recommendation before it can become effective. A vote, either by mail ballot or by a special convention, is expected in the next few weeks.
