Cold Weather Demand
An increase in power demand because of the cold weather was noted by the General Manager (Mr S. E. Slatter) in his report to a meeting of the Central Canterbury Electric Power Board yesterday. Compared with the same period last year ,the consumption of electricity was up by 10 per cent, he said. Since 1961, the average percentage increase in the board’s industrial and commercial loading had been 10.3 per cent a year, apd it looked as if this would be maintained in view of factory extensions planned over the next few years.
