No decision will be made on paying out until certain problems created by the winner’s wish to retain anonimity have been considered by the New Zealand Racing Conference. The ticket claiming the pool was produced by an Oamaru legal firm on Monday on behalf of an undisclosed principal. The Oamaru share of the jackpot pool has been forwarded to the trustees of the Ash-Te-Oa jackpot pool, representing the Ashburton, South Canterbury and Oamaru Jockey Clubs. The trustees are Messrs J. A. N. Bain and L. R. OUS, of Tlmaru. Mr Oliff said the trustees had to be satisfied regarding the bonda tides of the ticket. The winner had taken care to maintain hie anonymity. It would be more satisfactory if his name was given to the trustees, who would respect his wish tor it to be kept confidential. The views of the New Zealand Racing Conference would be known today and the trustees would act on the advice given. The racecourse inspector, Mr F. G. Pine, of Dunedin, who is appointed by the New Zealand Racing Conference, supervised the running of the jackpot at Oamaru.
After the jackpot doted he impounded all the stamps used on the jackpot tickets and supervised the sealing of the boxes in which the tickets were held overnight. On Sunday Mr Pine returned to Oamaru and supervised the checking of about 18,000 forms.
