The British Olympic champion, R. Pattisson, on Monday retained his lead in the world Flying Dutchman class yachting championships after a tough duel with the Canadian, P. Byrne. Pattisson, sailing Superdocious, trailed Byrne during the first half of the race but manged to overtake the Canadian to win by 2min for his second successive victory. The New Zealand boat Lucius sailed by R. Watson and J. Sholes, was seventh, 4min 6sec behind Pattisson.
