Apollo 11 Time-table

The following revised timetable of the principal events in the Apollo 11 moon-land-ing mission, given in New Zealand times, is subject to last-minute changes on those made during the flight:

THURSDAY, JULY 17 1.32 a.m.: Lift-off from Cape Kennedy. 4.16 a.m.: Spacecraft leaves earth “parking” orbit and heads for moon. SUNDAY, JULY 20 9.41 a.m.: Spacecraft goes into circular lunar orbit. MONDAY, JULY 21 5.50 a.m.: Lunar module undocks from mother ship. 7.14 a.m.: Lunar module begins descent to moon’s surface. 8.19 a.m.: Touch-down on the moon. 6.12 p.m.: Mr Neil Armstrong steps on to lunar surface. Colonel Edwin Aldrin follows about 25 minutes later. 8.47 p.m.: Spacemen return to lunar module. TUESDAY, JULY 22 5.50 a.m.: Lunar module lifts off from moon.

9.32 a.m.: Module docks with mother ship and is later jettisoned. 4.56 p.m.: Rocket motor fired to start spacecraft on journey back to earth. FRIDAY, JULY 25 4.51 a.m.: Splash-down in Pacific Ocean.
