Hunger Strike In Hyderabad

Police used staves to clear groups of demonstrators who squatted in streets blocking traffic.
Many who were forcibly removed continued their fasting elsewhere.
The Telangana People’s Committee, which leads the movement for the separation of the. backward Telangana area from the State of Andhra Pradesh because of alleged neglect of the region, had issued the call for the hunger strike. A home-made bomb was thrown last night at the residence of the Andhra Minister of Communication (Mr J. V. Narsingh Rao). The building was damaged but no-one was injured. As members of the State
Legislature representing Ar>dhra areas arrived for the talks, they were provided with armed escorts.
