U.K. View Of Colour Issue
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, July 7.
Most people in Britain believe that coloured immigrants already in the country should be made to feel at home, but almost half object to the thought of their daughter marrying one. According to a “Daily Express” poll, six people in 10 think that coloured immigrants should be made to feel at home and treated no differently to anyone else. But 48 per cent say they would object to their daughter marrying a coloured immigrant; 26 per cent would offer reluctant approval; and fewer than one in eight would have no objection. On the over-all issue of continued coloured immigration, 94 per'cent feel that there should be a severe reduction, and 34 per cent think that those already in Britain should be encouraged to return to their own countries.
